2. ORIENTATION TO OCEAN VIEWS, PREVAILING WINDS, OPTIMAL SUN ANGLE FOR ROOFTOP SOLAR, PRIVACY BETWEEN OCCUPANTS AND NEIGHBORS

3. HERMOSA BEACH CODES - MOST SPECIFICALLY THE MAXIMUM ROOF HEIGHT WHICH FOLLOWS THE SLOPE OF SITE.

 

THE PROJECT’S SIGNATURE MOVE IS ITS CONTINUOUS, COMPOUND-SLOPING ROOF PLANE WHICH FOLLOWS THE MAXIMUM BUILDING HEIGHT FOR THE SITE. FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE ROOF UNIFIES THE PROJECT’S MASSING AND PROVIDES A VIVID COUNTERPART TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD’S MENAGERIE OF CONVENTIONAL ROOF FORMS. THE RESULTING ANGLED UNDERSIDE OF THIS ROOF PLANE WILL PROVIDE THE CLIENTS WITH A DRAMATIC ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE FROM WITHIN THEIR PRIMARY LIVING SPACES.
